The film’s story has a unique twist. Amrinder Gill plays the character Satta, a truck driver, and the narrative revolves around his life, circumstances, love, and marriage. Satta shares a beautiful bond with his father (Hardeep Gill), showcasing their relationship throughout the film. His life takes a new turn when he falls in love with Jindi (Sunanda Sharma) and eventually marries Meeta (Sayani Gupta), a Bengali girl he meets in Kolkata, who then comes to Punjab with him. You might think that the entire story is revealed in this review, but no, this is just the plot leading up to the interval. Moreover, the story takes many unexpected turns afterwards, which we won’t spoil for your enjoyment of the film.
Amrinder Gill’s portrayal of Satta, the truck driver, looks stunning on screen. With the dialect and attire of drivers, he convincingly embodies the role while driving a truck. Sunanda Sharma shines in her role as a village girl from Punjab. The character played by Sayani Gupta, a Bengali girl, is incredibly captivating, and you are bound to fall in love with her. In addition, the film also features talented actors like Sayaji Shinde, Sukhwinder Chahal, Vishwanath Chatterjee, Jarnail Singh, Jagjeet Sandhu, Didar Gill, and Gurmeet Saajan. Altogether, they have brought plenty of laughter and applause from the audience through their performances. Also, the selection of actors for these roles is truly commendable.
The film’s even small dialogues convey deep humor, such as Satta’s father telling him, “Which Punjab is small?” to which Satta replies, “Yes, it’s small now.”Additionally, the film deserves special praise for its scenes shot in Bengal, where the local dialect of the Bengali villagers is authentically represented. It further effectively connects the audience to the story and their culture.
Speaking of direction, Rakesh Dhawan deserves commendation for utilizing not only Punjabi artists but also experienced actors who were essential to the story’s demands. The costumes of the characters, particularly during Bengali wedding rituals, blend seamlessly with Satta’s father’s Punjabi celebrations. It creates a visually appealing experience on screen. The visuals captured during the journey from Punjab to Kolkata are stunning, beautifully showcasing the villages and culture of Bengal.
The film’s scenes, accompanied by background music, are good, but there is room for improvement to make them even more appealing. The music prepared for the characters enhances their memorability and impact. Furthermore, Rhythm Boyz Entertainment and Amrinder Gill’s team are recognized for their contributions to music. Thus, expectations for better background scores are justified. The film features beautiful songs that advance the story, with a particular number sung by Sunanda Sharma and Amrinder Gill being catchy and likely to resonate with every viewer.
