The much-awaited movie Chamkila featuring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra has been put on hold by the court. Even before its release, the biopic made on the late singer Amar Singh Chamkila faces a ban by the court.
Helmed by Imtiaz Ali, the movie is making rounds all over the web ever since its announcement. However, as per recent reports, the movie seems to be mired in controversies. Furthermore, a local court has issued a notice to Reliance Entertainment, producer Imtiaz, lead actors, and Gurmail Kaur (widow of late singer Chamkila). The notice reads ‘not to release, broadcast, upload, or stream the movie on Chamkila and singer Amarjot Kaur at any platform.
Moreover, the petition is filed to secure its rights by the late producer Gurdev Singh Randhawa’s sons, Sanjot and Isjeet. It is claimed that Gurmail Kaur (Chamkila’s widow) had granted the authority to picture a biography of her husband to Randhawas in 2012. Also, she got Rs. 5 Lakh as the initial amount. Subsequently, petitioners approached Gurmail Kaur, however, she used several reasons to delay the process.
Thus, as soon as Randhawas got to know about the making of the movie. They put up a case. Presently, the defendants have to appear in court on 28th March 2023.
