The zeal for hard work and enthusiasm paid our very own Gippy Grewal very well. Born as Rupinder Singh Grewal, a versatile singer, actor and now a day’s creative director as well, are all in one filled in his sac of life. He became a overnight star by his song ‘Phulkari’. From a simple family, it was very difficult for him to struggle, but he did frequently. The Hotel Management degree holder got successful tasting many flows in the sea of his life. Supported by his wife and family, he came up with the best in him. He worked as a security guard and you will feel horrible as he had also cleaned toilets before this glamorous world.
He took part in various plays in his childhood. Groomed by many personalities. His financial crises were supported by friends to help his album release.Worked as a waiter in Mumbai. He made appearances in public gatherings and public fairs to earn. Many people feel reluctant to speak about their struggle but Gippy certainly never felt the same as he firmly believes that this struggling period made me strong and he thinks that period as it holds an importance to him to remain grounded.
‘To remain on Earth’ is Gippy’s success mantra and his day starts off with the blessings of almighty. Discussing about his acting career Grewal made his film debut in a supporting role in 2010 Punjabi-language film Mel Karade Rabba. Followed by many hits. He then made his full acting debut in Bollywood with the romantic-comedy film Second Hand Husband.
In 2016, Grewal directed a film Ardaas, which received great response from the audience. The praise is not yet ending; he has even mastered the skill of singing. One cannot leave him back when counting upon Punjabi Singers. He even made Bollywood dance on his tunes with ‘Angreji Beat’.
Grewal made his debut with the album Chakkh Lao which was produced by Aman Hayer. He followed with the albums Nasha, Phulkari, Phulkari 2 Just Hits and Gangster. He always gave priority to his mother tongue and took Punjabi Cinema to new level. He is excelling in his life and all look forward to him with trust and respect. ‘Simplicity’ is what he learned from his family and indeed is carrying along with him.
