The 21-year-old from Punjab, Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu, representing India wins the coveted title of the 70th Miss Universe 2021, which took place at Universe Dome in Eilat, Israel. Also, the title is (finally) back in India after 21 years.
Earlier, in 2001, Lara Dutta bagged the title and in 1994, it was Sushmita Sen who got it. Thus, Sandhu has now become the third Indian woman to be crowned with the prestigious Miss Universe. Also, she claimed the crown brushing off Nadia Ferreira from Paraguay and Lalela Mswane from South Africa.
Born and raised in a Sikh family, she resides in Chandigarh. Sandhu is a model, an actress, and a beauty pageant titleholder. Previously, she won Miss Diva 2021, Femina Miss India Punjab 2019, a semi-finalist at Femina Miss India 2019, and Times Fresh Face in 2017. Besides it, she has performed in several Punjabi movies.
